Development of combined deburring and inspection system

چکیده
Automation is a step beyond mechanisation, to increase productivity and to improve the quality. Automated manufacturing systems operate in the factory on the physical product to perform operations such as processing, assembly, inspection, or material handling and sometimes accomplishing more than one of these operations in the same system. One of the strategies for the automation is combination of operations which involves, reducing the number of distinct production machines or workstations through which the part must be routed. This is accomplished by performing more than one operation at a given machine, thereby reducing the number of separate machines needed. Some of the combination of operations performed on one system like processing and assembly, processing and material handling, assembly and material handling, material handling and inspection is done in recent past. But very little work is done on combination of operations such as processing and inspection on same system. This paper addresses combination of operations like deburring and inspection on same system.

To increase productivity and to improve the quality, Automation is a step beyond mechanisation. Automated manufacturing systems includes performing operations such as processing, assembly, inspection, or material handling and combination of more than one of these operations in the same system for reducing the number of distinct production machines or workstations through which the part must be ...
متن کاملAutomating Robot Programming in the Cleaning and Deburring Workstation of the Amrf
In the Cleaning and Deburring Workstation, two robots cooperate to accomplish deburring, buffing, cleaning, and handling of machined metal parts. A technique has been developed which uses part geometry data to generate robot paths automatically. Using a graphics interface, an operator specifies how a part is to be gripped, fixtured, deburred, buffed, and cleaned. A path planner combines this pr...
متن کاملAn Advanced Deburring and Chamfering System
A second-generation automated deburring cell is currently under development at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. This cell will be capable of automatically generating, from part geometry and machining information, a series of robot paths for deburring aerospace parts made from superalloys. In order to compensate for the inaccuracy of robots when following computed coordinates,...
متن کاملMeasurement Assisted Robotic Edge Deburring of Aero engine Components
Aero engine components are often subjected to high stress levels and vibrations during operation. The mechanical integrity of these machined components may be compromised by the presence of burrs and sharp edges. Therefore the removal of burrs and the creation of rounded edges is necessary. To do this manually is time consuming and costly and may have potential quality issues. The application o...
متن کاملCad Directed Robotic Deburring
Robots prove advantageous for the deburring of machined parts because they are more repeatable than humans and suffer no fatigue. However, most deburring robots are programmed manually, requiring a large investment in programming time. At the National Bureau of Standards' Automated Manufacturing Research Facility, research is being conducted on techniques to automate robot programming. A techni...
